afternoon apricot began as a personal project after a solo trip i took to spain last year. on the beach in barcelona i found a lot of trash - pieces of terra-cotta and glass that had washed up onto shore after years of tumbling in the surf - that were like tiny pieces of the past nestled in the pebbly sand. i spent a lot of time imagining what each piece was in its previous life, maybe it was a grandma’s favorite bowl to serve her family paella in, or a bottle of soda that gave a child an extra burst of energy when running around with his friends, or even just a piece of a brick of a building that was built centuries ago. placing so much meaning on these little useless pieces of material made me realize that they still held value, and could still be appreciated in the form of jewelry.

so, i made jewelry, and sold it all, and completely ran out of materials i had collected in spain. i couldn’t afford to go back to spain so naturally, i turned to eBay, where you truly can find anything if you search with enough conviction. miraculously i found niche little corner of eBay filled with people all over the world that place value in the same kinds of found objects as i do. this collection has pieces from spain, greece, puerto rico, bulgaria, japan, italy, and (drumroll) florida.

this jewelry is made with love, intention, and nostalgia in brooklyn. each one-of-a-kind piece is handmade from recycled materials found by me or one of my eBay soulmates.

afternoon apricot is based in finding a way to bring intention to fragments that are otherwise valueless, something which i hope to implement into my life on a much broader scale physically and metaphorically.

i’m always down to collaborate, customize, and trade, so definitely reach out!
